2026 Robert Ludwig Teacher of the Year

Linda Garrigan, a dedicated second-grade teacher at William C. Keane Elementary School, was named the Schenectady City School District’s 2026 Teacher of the Year in December 2025. The announcement was made as a surprise celebration at the school, where students, staff, family members, and community partners gathered to honor her outstanding contributions to education.

The Schenectady City School District Educational Foundation proudly recognized Mrs. Garrigan’s achievement with a $1,000 award in celebration of her lasting impact on students and the broader school community.

Mrs. Garrigan is widely recognized for her exceptional instruction, unwavering dedication, and ability to create a classroom environment where every child feels seen, supported, and challenged. Her teaching balances academic rigor with compassion, ensuring students grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.

She serves on multiple committees and teams, including the Anti-Racist Building Level Team, School Community Engagement Team, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), New Teacher Mentoring, and Family Outreach initiatives.

Her leadership extends into mentorship, professional collaboration, and school-wide efforts that strengthen both instructional practice and school culture.
